"Drop Your Baggage"
While it is challenging to want to create a lasting positive change in yourself, it is possible. Sometimes we are so ready to make a change but are stuck, confused and don't know where to begin. We know we want to change areas in our lives that will bring us more love, more money, more happiness but it is so frustrating when we find ourselves falling back to old feelings, habits, and negative self talk. It may seem like you are in this never ending cycle that gets you nowhere. You find the motivation but quickly disappears. Many times we know what we need to do to get the results, but yet we sabotage ourselves and we don’t do it. So how can we find the confidence and motivation and keep it? Here are three secrets you need to know to help you stay motivated.
No 1: Understand your personality: What motivates you.
First, you got to know yourself and your personality. Understanding how we are and why we take the actions that we do helps simplify the process. It takes a load off to know that we do things by a programming that we didn't chose but we learned along the way. Takes the sense of "we are broken" out of the equation. Secondly, It is important to understand what really motivates you. By knowing what motivates you, you can work towards your goal more easily. For example, one may be motivated by money while others may be motivated by recognition. You have to know yourself, your personality and what truly motivates you. Ask yourself, "what really motivates me" because when you get clear on what specifically motivates you it is easier to design your plan accordingly. You can "design" your life to best suit you and getting there will be much more exciting, meaningful and make things easier along the way.
No 2: Remember your why.
While creating new habits and designing our new lifestyle, we often times tend to forget why we started in the first place. We tend to lose sight of our end result. And we all know "out of sight, out of mind". So a good way to help you remember, stay focus and keep your motivation high is designing your own vision board. Whenever I see my vision board, it reminds me of why I do what I do. It is so powerful to have a vision board to remind your why. And revisiting your vision board every month helps you to see what you've already accomplished and what you need to work on a little more!
No 3: Have accountability.
Get yourself a mastermind partner or someone who can hold you accountable. Having someone that keeps you accoutable helps you to stay high in your energy and keep your momentum going. Let's face it we are all human and every now and then life throws a curve ball at us so it is very normal to lose momentum and not stay motivated. What’s important is when you lose the momentum, you can get back on track. Even, I, at times lose motivation, lose sight or simply feel down because something didn't go according to plan,but because I surround myself with my colleagues, my coaches, my peers, and my loving husband I have the support that I need to get back on track. Everyone gives me no option but to continue and motivates me. Therefore, it is highly important to surround yourself with people who will support and believe in you.
To add on, having a morning routine or ritual that motivates you is helpful. Perhaps starting your day with reading a mantra, listening to motivational speeches or an awesome song that pumps you up can get your energy flowing in the right direction.
When we are building a new life for ourselves, new goals, or better habits, know that it is normal if you lose motivation. Know that it is normal when you feel like quitting. What is important is that you spring back into action. One of the traits of highly successful people is having character. Character is following through a decision and commitment long after the excitement has passed. It is following through your goal even though your motivation is long gone. Therefore, with these three secrets, you now know how to stay motivated.
